British Airways owner profits surge on strong demand

Rising Profits for Iberia and British Airways Owner IAG in 2025 Half‑Year

In June, IAG, the parent company of British Airways and Spain’s Iberia, reported a 44 percent increase in net profit for the first six months of the year, driven by robust demand.

After‑tax profit reached €1.3 billion ($1.5 billion), up from €905 million in January‑June 2024.

Group revenue grew eight percent to €15.9 billion, “highlighting strong demand across our network and brands,” IAG added.

The company, which announced a multi‑billion‑dollar order for Boeing and Airbus aircraft in May, also owns Spanish carrier Vueling and Irish airline Aer Lingus.

“Our strong performance in the first half of 2025 reflects the resilience of travel demand,” IAG chief executive Luis Gallego said in a statement.

He added, “We continue to benefit from the trend of a structural shift in consumer spending towards travel.”

IAG expressed confidence in delivering good earnings growth for the full year while remaining mindful of the ongoing uncertainty that may arise from geopolitical and macroeconomic conditions.
