Actor Rory Gibson chatted about playing the role of Michael Corinthos on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.”

“The important thing in life is not victory but combat; it is not to have vanquished but to have fought well,” said Pierre de Coubertin, French Educator who was primarily responsible for the revival of the Olympic Games in 1894. This quote applies to Rory Gibson, 29.

Gibson previously played the role of Noah Newman on “The Young and The Restless” on CBS.

Gibson on ‘General Hospital’

On being a part of the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital,” Gibson exclaimed, “It has been incredible! Everybody there has been so welcoming and so kind.”

“The story has been pretty exciting,” he admitted. “I feel I got thrown into the fire in best possible way, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.”Rory Gibson in 'General Hospital'Rory Gibson in ‘General Hospital.’ Photo Credit: Disney, Christine Bartolucci.

Gibson on playing Michael Corinthos

Gibson is drawn to playing his “General Hospital” legacy character Michael Corinthos for several reasons.

“Michael seems like a pretty enigmatic character,” Gibson admitted. “From scene to scene, Michael can be so different. I’ve had these moments with the kids and with family where Michael is so gentle, loving and kind.”

“On the flip side of that, at the end of the episode, Michael can turn into a ruthless character so it has been fun playing both ends of that spectrum,” he added.Laura WrightLaura Wright. Photo Credit: ABC, Craig Sjodin

Working with Laura Wright and Maurice Benard

Gibson had great words about working with Emmy winners Laura Wright and Maurice Benard as his on-screen parents Carly and Sonny respectively.

“Laura and Maurice are the best TV parents,” he said. “Laura has becoming my acting coach; she is so knowledgeable about everything, and she has a unique, intrinsic ability to know what needs to be done in a scene.”

“Maurice lays it bare. He is a raw talent and he gets after it, and he has such presence in the room. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my time with both of them,” Gibson added.

‘State of Mind’ podcast on mental health

Speaking of Maurice Benard, Gibson recently did his “State of Mind” podcast on mental health.

“Doing ‘State of Mind’ was cool,” Gibson reflected. “I went in there not knowing what it was going to be like. I wasn’t necessarily prepared to get as candid as I did.”

“Maurice has such a calming presence to him, and I felt comfortable in that place with him to let certain things out. It was nice and honestly, it was a cathartic experience.

Coastal Entertainment fan events

On September 28th, Gibson will be a part of a virtual Coastal Entertainment fan event with his on-screen mother Laura Wright, and an in-person event on November 22nd, at The Comedy Vault in Batavia, Illinois with fellow co-star Chris McKenna. “Those events will be fun,” he admitted.

“The Zoom with Laura will be good. Laura and I have been spending so much time together,” he said.

“Batavia is going to be an interesting one especially since Chris and I haven’t spent much time together,” Gibson noted.

“We haven’t had any scenes together yet. I’ve only seen him in the hallways but he seems like a really cool and fun guy. I am excited to get to know him more and I am excited to get out there and meet some of the fans,” Gibson elaborated.Rory GibsonRory Gibson. Photo Credit: Brad Everett Young.

‘Samantha’s Friends’

In May of 2026, Gibson revealed that he is looking forward to being a part of the “Samantha’s Friends” benefit fundraiser in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. It will have “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme to it.

“That is going to be an interesting event,” Gibson admitted. “When they brought that to the table, it was an easy ‘yes’ considering they are out there helping the dogs. I’m a huge fan of dogs, so I am pumped about that event! It will be so much fun.”

Nick Milone

Gibson had great words about actor, model and friend Nick Milone, who is making his own mark in the contemporary Los Angeles entertainment landscape.

“Nick Milone is my boy,” Gibson exclaimed. “I can’t wait to see what the future in the entertainment industry holds for him. Nick is just a genuine and sweet guy. I love that man!”

Joshua Morrow

Gibson fondly recalled working with Joshua Morrow, who played his first-ever on-screen father on daytime TV — Nick Newman on the No. 1 sudser “The Young and The Restless.”

“I love Josh. He is awesome and very chill. I still talk to him quite a bit,” Gibson said, prior to praising Morrow’s real-life son Crew Morrow (who is on “The Bold and The Beautiful” as Will Spencer) for his talent.Rory GibsonRory Gibson. Photo Credit: Brad Everett Young.

Brad Everett Young and his Dream Loud campaign

Gibson spoke about being a part of Brad Everett Young’s Dream Loud campaign, which helps preserve music and arts programs in schools.

“Brad is the man. He is a genuine, kind, real photographer, who is as real as they come,” Gibson said.

“We got along really quick, and he is wildly talented. Similar to Maurice, Brad is good at making people feel comfortable in the space that he is working, which is important with what he does,” Gibson explained.

Message for his fans and supporters

For his dedicated “General Hospital” fans, Gibson expressed, “Thank you for tuning in! Thank you for welcoming me to this show with open arms.”

“Their love and support does not go unrecognized. I truly, truly appreciate it with all my heart. We can’t do what we do without the fans, so many thanks to them,” he said, effusively.
